Write to us
For a problem with the app, a question about the Checkride Pass or anything else, write to:
Tell us your iPhone model, the iOS version and the version of Wingspeak. You find the version at the bottom of Settings in the app.
Common tasks
-
Restore your Checkride Pass
Open the Checkride Pass screen and tap "Restore purchases". Use the same Apple Account that bought the pass. The pass is one payment, and it never ends.
-
Report a phraseology issue
If a call in a lesson is not right for your region, open Settings, then "About this region", then "Report a phraseology issue". Your mail app opens with an email to us. Say which lesson and which call.
-
Request your airport
Pass holders can ask for their home airport: open Settings, then "Request your airport". We add the airport after our reviewer checks its frequencies, runways, taxiways and circuit.
Questions
-
Is the controller real?
No. Wingspeak simulates air traffic control for practice. Never use it for a real flight, and always follow your instructor and the real controller.
-
Which regions does the app teach?
FAA phraseology for the United States, and CAA phraseology for the UK (CAP 413).
-
Why does the app need the microphone?
The app hears each call that you make while you hold the transmit button. It turns the call into text on your iPhone to grade it. Read the privacy policy for the details.
-
Does the app work without a connection?
Yes, on most iPhones. The lessons and the controller's voice always run on your iPhone. The speech recognizer runs on your iPhone when the iPhone has a speech model for the lesson language. If not, iOS needs a connection to hear your calls.
